GLASS TWO, the joint project of the German-Greek pianist Danae Dörken and vibraphonist and composer Pascal Schumacher from Luxembourg, promises a fascinating artistic journey through the multifaceted legacy of the American minimalist Philip Glass. The duo album is planned to be released in the third quarter of 2024 on the renowned German label NEUE MEISTER (edel/KULTUR).
In addition to selected works from Glass' repertoire, including excerpts from 'Einstein on the Beach', 'Naqoyqatsi', the Metamorphoses and the Piano Etudes, Schumacher will contribute his own compositions. With Glass as a source of inspiration, they give the album an individual and contemporary sound.
Dörken and Schumacher create an impressive synthesis of piano and vibraphone sounds that are in unity with the minimalist aesthetic of Philip Glass. The duo is particularly concerned with creating a unique, crystalline sound that artfully captures the fusion of the two instruments. This extraordinary sound takes the listener on a journey that not only reinterprets the works of Philip Glass, but also brings the subtle magic and versatility of piano and vibraphone to the fore.
The project promises not only a homage to a grand master of minimalism, but also a discovery of new soundscapes and the creation of a unique listening experience.
